What do I do if I think I or my child needs an assessment??
Catriona is always happy to chat with you and see if Empower OT is a good fit for you or your child. Read about Empower OT on the about page and about the Empower OT service.

Do you provide recommendations for school or work?
Yes, detailed recommendations for school, college and education are included as part of your assessment form. An adults report will include recommendations for work.

What happens after the assessment process is completed?
Following the assessment, Empower OT will provide a detailed report within two weeks. This report will summarise the assessment process, outline findings, and include targeted recommendations. If intervention is recommended, the frequency and duration of sessions will be tailored to meet individual needs and goals, ensuring the most effective support.

Will my report be accepted by the HSE, Department of Education or government bodies?
Yes, Empower OT reports are recognised by the HSE, Department of Education, and other relevant government bodies. As a registered professional with CORU, the British Dyslexia Association, and PATOSS, Catriona adheres to best practices and ensures that all reports meet the requirements set by the HSE and education authorities.

How do I book a place on the Empower OT workshops/groups or arrange a training workshop for my organisation?
If you’d like to attend a training session, please register via the contact page or email at admin@empowerot.ie. If the dates do not suit you email and get placed on the waiting list for the next workshop.

Could I or my child have ADHD? How can I find out?
While we do work with ADHD clients, we do not assess for this but we can certainly can help identify. Contact Catriona to discuss further

What’s the referral process? Do I need a GP, consultant, or school to refer me
No. Referrals can be made directly by a parent, legal guardian, or, in the case of adults, by the individual seeking support.

I think I or my child might be dyslexic – what should I do?
Contact us. We’re happy to chat and see if our service is right for you.
We provide occupational therapy assessments that can help identify signs of dyslexia.

My child is going to University, can you help prep them?
Yes of course, contact us to book a University Preparation Assessment which supports teens/young adults with organisation, planning, and transition to college.

Cancellation policy?
At Empower OT, Catriona works hard to manage her schedule efficiently due to the high demand for therapy appointments, striving to see all clients in a timely manner. To ensure this, each client receives a protected weekly time slot, which cannot be offered to others.
We encourage attendance at every appointment to achieve the best possible outcomes. If a cancellation is unavoidable, please inform us by phone or email. A €100 cancellation fee applies if the appointment cannot be rescheduled within the same week.

Where are you based?
Empower OT is based in Boyle, Co Roscommon which is easily accessible from nearby counties such as Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo and Galway. If you live further away please contact us to setup an online meeting.

Can I reclaim some of the money though tax or my health insurance?
Revenue tax return: You can claim 20% off your therapy expenses by submitting the Med 1 Form to Revenue.
Health Insurance: Please check with your health insurer. Some polices enable you to claim back a percentage of the money spent on therapy sessions.

What method of payment is accepted?
Once your appointment is arranged, an invoice will be sent to you with a convenient payment link. Payment is due on receipt of the invoice and prior to your appointment. If you require a split payment arrangement, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
